Over the years I have added Hot Stone Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reiki and Natural Facelift Massage._
In 2014, my first hand experience of chronic pain, made me seek out effective ways to help myself and others, and to enhance my massage skills by qualifying in Advanced Clinical Massage (similar to sports massage).
I enjoy my work and being able to make a positive difference to other people’s wellbeing. I also enjoy travelling to other countries, experiencing different cultures and trying different therapies. If you have any stories about therapies you have tried, I would love to hear them!
Advanced Clinical Massage
Hot Stone Therapy
Advanced Clinical MassageAdvanced Clinical massage is an outcome based massage therapy, which can decrease pain and improve mobility. It is a mixture of eastern and western techniques that treat the individual not just the disease. Each treatment is tailor made and the techniques used have been provento be helpful for both chronic and acute conditions. Being particularly effective for people who have been living with chronic pain. Being in pain can have a negative impact on all aspects of your life. Making it difficult to concentrate or physically do your job, as well as the things you enjoy doing in your free time. Insomnia can be a major problem, leading to tiredness and irritability, putting a strain on your relationships and your ability to cope with every day stresses. Painkillers are a great quick fix but not a good long term solution. Within 1-6 massage sessions I can dramatically reduce your pain and improve your range of motion, helping you to enjoy life again. Each session can include : Fascial Work – I will be working with the Fascia directly using Rolfing techniques and/or indirectly using MFR-Myofascial Release to stretch and soften these important connective tissues. Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point Therapy – I will use deep tissue massage techniques to work down through the muscles and tissues, searching for problem areas, trigger points and releasing tension Stretching – I use three different types of stretching, these styles are popular with physiotherapists and sports therapists. Passive stretching / Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching / Active Isolated Stretching We will work with whichever stretches are most suitable and beneficial to you Table Shiatsu – This is an eastern technique that involves gentle rocking of the body and compression applied over the towel to the main muscle groups and acupressure points. Self help/Eduaction- I will give you some stretches you can do at home/work as well as some ideas on pain control you could try, helping to put you in control of the pain. WHAT CONDITIONS CAN IT HELP? Back /Neck Pain, Sciatica, Hip Pain and SI Joint Dysfunction, Herniated Disc, Arthritis / Joint Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Migraines and Headaches, Fibromyalgia ,Carpal Tunnel syndrome and RSI, Strains and Sprains, Surgical Rehabilitation, And much more…
ReflexologyReflexology (also known as reflex zone therapy) is an holistic therapy, using pressure to certain points on the feet .The therapeutic benefit of reflexology has been known in China, India and Egypt for over 5,000 years. It is believed that the body and all its systems and organs are reflected on the feet. Pressure to specific points has a positive effect on the bod,y promoting relaxation, helping to relieve pain and encouraging the body to naturally restore balance. The main theory as to how it works, is via the many nerve endings in the feet, which on focused compression send signals to the spinal cord and on to the rest of the body. Being an holistic therapy and I will work through the whole body on one foot and then the other. If you are having the full reflexology session,I will then go back over areas where you have concerns or I have felt tension/congestion. It is a calming and very relaxing therapy and most people can benefit from Reflexology. It can bring relief to a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, as well as acting as a general tonic for the body and mind. Some clients have described it as ‘ a massage from the inside out’!
Hot Stone TherapyThis is the Rolls Royce of massage therapy. A beautifully warming and deeply relaxing massage using smooth heated volcanic basalt stones as an extension of my own hands. I will start with a back massage to warm and soothe those tight muscles in the shoulders and back, specific areas can be targeted. After the back of the legs you will turn over and I will place warm stones under your back and along the chakras on the front of the body, continuing with massage to the legs, feet, arms and neck. Finishing with a face and scalp massage including pressure points The use of heated stones for healing and relaxation and been used for centuries in parts of North American, South American, China, Africa, Europe, Egypt and India Most people can enjoy the hot stones and they are particularly good for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia and stress related conditions. Let the warmth of the stones melt away the stress…
Massage TherapyDo you feel achy, tired, stressed out? Maybe you need a 'good ironing out' and/or some relaxing 'me time' to recover from the physical, mental and emotional demands of every day life. Even machines need regular maintenance to run smoothly.... All my back massages start with a few minutes of hot stone massage to relax the body and warm the muscles. I find most people carry their tension in the back of the body. The muscles in the back, neck, shoulders, hips and the back of the legs take a lot of the strain and its difficult to get to these areas yourself. After a brief consultation, we can decide what is best for you. My therapeutic massage, as well as being relaxing can also be quite firm to address stubborn 'knots'. My more gentle aromatherapy style of massage would be better for people who don't like too much pressure. I will check in with you at the beginning of the massage to make sure the pressure is correct for you. I have been told by many people that my massage is one of the best, if not THE best massage they have ever had!
